Morama bean project discussed during King of Sweden’s visit to Botswana

King Carl XVI Gustaf’s delegation from Sweden visited the Botswana College of Agriculture (BCA) on Wednesday 23rd March to be briefed on Botswana-Swedish research projects and partnerships. The SIDA funded Partner Driven Cooperation (PDC) project on increasing community awareness and utilization of morama bean to improve nutrition security and livelihoods in Botswana was the research project selected. The morama project team in Botswana and other dignitories from the University of Botswana were present during this important meeting. January 2011

Morama Project Inception Meeting

The morama project team held its first inception meeting at the Tuningi Hotel located at the Madikwe Game Reserve in South Africa from 28 till 30 January 2011. This meeting was attended by three representatives from the University of Botswana, one representative from the Botswana college of agriculture, two representatives from Market Matters Inc. (South Africa), one representative from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, two representatives from Rural Women foundation (Netherlands branch) and one representative from the National Food Technology Research Centre (NFTRC, Kanye), Botswana.

The objective of this inception meeting was to meet with the various partners involved in the project, discuss, agree and finalize the project budget and prepare work plans and time lines for the implementation of each of the four activities identified by the partners.
